Setting the Holiday Vibes

The holidays are upon us, and that means we gotta roll our sleeves up and get to decorating. Preparing your shop or company for the holiday festivities doesn’t stop at putting up a small Christmas tree or placing Gingerman cutouts and candy canes on the storefront. It’s good to make sure that the graphics of your website and social media will mirror the celebration you’re throwing with the rest of the world. Participating in the holiday cheer makes your business seem friendly and personal to the customers. One way you can harness that Christmas cheer is by making your products, packaging, and graphic content give out that warm, cozy, and happy feeling that the holidays evoke in people. Doing so not only makes your aesthetic consistent with your surroundings, it will also catch the eyes of eager shoppers dashing around for the perfect gift to buy.

Spruce up your logo

Adding a little change or some tiny effects to your logo can help in making your customers feel the holiday cheer. Changing colors to a complementary red or to other festive colors can make your logo more eye-catching and pleasant to look at. Adding a few elements like shimmers, sleighs, Christmas ornaments, and other designs may also be helpful. Just make sure all the elements go well together and aren’t thrown together just for the sake of making it festive.

Use cheery colors

–but make sure they don’t clash! Research festive color palettes you can use or incorporate the classic red and green for that nostalgic holiday feel. However, don’t go about using any color just because it reminds you of the holidays. Make sure the colors complement each other. Enhance your design with color by making it cohesive with its other visual elements as opposed to wrapping your products or logo with any color that shouts “Christmas!” or “New Year!”.

Catch their eye with movement

A bit of animation can go a long way. It’s a fun way to engage the attention of your customers. Incorporate recognizable elements such as Christmas trees, candy canes, and sparkles. Simple animation can also help to evoke wonder in your customers’ imagination.

With all that said…

Christmas is not just about the hustle bustle of work, shopping for presents, planning gatherings and meals, and parties. It’s not just about coming up with ways to match your business with the holidays and attracting more customers. It’s also about slowing down to reflect on the closing year and spend time with family. We come together to remember that the reason for Christmas is the birth of Jesus who came to give us the gift of forgiveness and eternity with Him.

Jesus claimed to be God which makes Him either who He said He is, a liar, or a crazy person. Most people just believe He was a nice guy. If they don’t believe He is the one and only living God that He claims to be, then how could a nice guy be lying about it or crazy to think he’s God? You have to believe one. I choose to believe the first one. Life is more than business, making money, and good design. In my case, it’s about who we are serving. If we serve only ourselves, then for what purpose? When we serve the God of this universe who created us, we experience His love, purpose, and plans for our lives. He gives us the free gift of believing that He died for our sins and rose from the dead and wants to spend eternity with us. He is the one and only living God who wants to meet us where we’re at and love us. Will you believe He is who He says He is and accept His love or reject it?

From the bottom of our hearts, Design Savvy wishes you and your family a blessed, merry Christmas and a fruitful new year. Let’s experience the joy of Christ’s birth together and collaborate with purpose in the coming year!

The Design Savvy Team wishes you a Merry Christmas!
