Bio-Identical Hormone Expert and Wellness Author Dr. Michael E. Platt speaks in Indian Wells, CA November 29, 2006

Los Angeles, CA - Dr. Michael E. Platt, board certified internist and author of The Miracle of Bio-Identical Hormones is speaking at a seminar Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at the Miramonte Resort Hotel in Indian Wells, CA, 7:00 -9:00 p.m., to introduce new associate Dr. John D. Carr of North Carolina, and to discuss the controversy surrounding Suzanne Somers’ new book Ageless which talks about her use of bio-identical hormones.

Platt, founder of the Platt Medical Center in Palm Desert, CA, is nationally and internationally known for his controversial wellness and preventive approach to medicine through the use of natural bio-identical hormones for ADD/ADHD, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, PMS/menopause, sexual health, and weight loss. Platt, who has been in practice 33 years, says “Suzanne Somers has single-handedly aroused world-wide interest in bio-identical hormone therapy, and has made men and women aware they have to be proactive about their health – this is good.

I salute her for her courage. However, the specific recommendations she champions with regard to hormone replacement is not only ill-advised, it may actually be dangerous….When advising women to take high dosages of a potentially toxic hormone (estrogen) it is important to give them the entire picture.”

New Platt Medical Center associate Dr. John D. Carr, who was born and raised in Rhode Island, attended the University of Miami, Florida, as both an undergraduate and medical student. As a medical student, he trained at a big county hospital, Jackson Memorial, where he worked in the trauma center. As a resident at Cornell/Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, he rotated between three facilities – Cornell/Sloan-Kettering Cancer (a specialty hospital), Northshore Hospital in Long Island (private), and New York Hospital in Manhattan (public). He later became Chairman of the Department of Emergency Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and subsequently established a private internal medicine practice in Charlotte, N.C. “Discovering John Carr is the result of a four year search for a physician compatible with my approach to wellness. His love of medicine is very apparent, along with his ability to identify the causation of illness,” comments Platt.”
